  • Reduce stiffness
  • Minimize oedema or swelling

Therapeutic Ultrasound

Therapeutic ultrasound is used to exert thermal, mechanical and chemical effects on the tissue to enhance healing. It can also be used to increase the stretch in tissues in order to increase range of motion around a joint. Through deep healing, therapeutic ultrasound can stimulate blood flow to the area to reduce inflammation and swelling.

Electrical stimulation

Electrical stimulation is the application of electrical impulses to a muscle or muscle group to stimulate contraction. Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES) can prevent atrophy of muscles while Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) is used for pain management.

NMES is most commonly used in orthopaedic and neurological injuries and diseases. This therapy will help your pet maintain their muscle mass, especially after an orthopaedic surgery.

It is used mainly to stimulate the healing process, reduce pain and restore mobility.

The depth, strength and frequency of the sound waves can be controlled to treat individual condition.

Some common conditions that can be treated are:

  • Tendon injuries
  • Ligament injuries
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Deep muscle pain
